EMPANADA KITCHEN was born in 2016 from the idea to bring a piece of the Argentine culinary culture to San Diego. Our empanadas are HANDMADE and HAPPILY BAKED with special care to provide a tasty, high-quality experience. We make our own CHIMICHURRI sauce fresh every day following a traditional, gaucho approved homemade recipe: chopped parsley, oregano, garlic and chili flakes in a base of red wine vinegar and olive oil (no, it is not spicy).

Want to know more? An EMPANADA is typically a savory pastry stuffed with different fillings. The name comes from the Spanish verb EMPANAR, meaning “to wrap in bread” (we copied and pasted this from Wikipedia so we know it is true). It is not clear where the empanada originated from but they became popular throughout South America, particularly in ARGENTINA. Each region has a unique style and each family has their own recipes that have been passed down from one generation to the next.
